What is the purpose of this site?
The purpose of Anison World is to promote old school anison in North America. Although anison following in places such as Japan, Brazil, France, and Italy is quite high, promotion and enthusiasm in North America seems to be lacking.
What's an "anison"?
Generally put, "anison" is Japanese shorthand for "
anime
song."
However, it often covers more than just anime songs, usually including songs from sentai shows, video games, and even old commercials.
These days, most new anime songs may not even be considered "anison," especially when done by a popular J-pop band, voice actor, or an idol singer.
As a general rule, most anime songs from anime up until the early 90s, songs from sequels to those anime, practically all sentai songs, songs from most super robot anime, and songs performed for a commercial/video game/anime by certain
anison singers are anison.
Who are some anison singers?
Any of the current of previous members of JAM (
Japan
Animation song
Makers) Project, for one. Most of them, such as Hironobu Kageyama, Ichiro Mizuki, Masaaki Endoh, and Yoshiki Fukuyama are anison singers either with or without Jam Project.
You can check out the Artist wiki for more info on various anison artists.
Where can I purchase anison CDs and other anison media?
You can buy anison CDs, Lps, tapes, and concerts at a variety of places. The easiest way would be from sites such as
CD Japan,
yesasia, and
play asia. Every now and then you can find stuff on
Amazon and
ebay.
There are some secondhand Japanese stores that you can order from in English such as
Otokichi Premium and
Anime Jungle.
If it's a really rare item you want, there are deputy sites such as
Crescent Shop that can buy items for you from sites like amazon.co.jp and auctions.yahoo.co.jp, and then send it to you for a fee.
Who are you?
Your father, of course.
Actually, I'm a 20-something year old anison fan living in America. It's not that important who I am.
